WNMTC's Magical Run Reaches 35 Years
Feb 18, 2025

WNMTC is spotlighting some of its spectacular productions for "Celebrate the Magic" on Feb. 21-23 at Carson City Community Center.
Thirty-five years ago, the Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company began as a small, community program — one that some might have assumed would be short-lived. Instead, it has flourished into a beloved institution, bringing Broadway-caliber productions to Carson City and captivating audiences with unforgettable performances year after year.
Little did founder and longtime producer-director Stephanie Arrigotti know that when she started the program as vlog’s Community Services director in 1990, that it would grow into a renowned performing arts company.
“I introduced it by hiring a director for our first shows when I headed the Community Services program, which was self-supporting,” said Arrigotti, WNMTC’s producer and director. “So, when my position changed to being a full-time music professor, I started running the company through that department.”
To commemorate the rich 35-year history of the company, WNMTC is presenting “Celebrate the Magic” on Feb. 21-23 at the Carson City Community Center.
“We are delighted that Stephanie and her crew are presenting a spectacular show to acknowledge this milestone and the many performers who have contributed to the success of the Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company,” said vlog President Dr. J. Kyle Dalpe.
The one-weekend show will combine some of WNMTC’s favorite moments into one dazzling, magical revue.
“Let’s face it, the last 35 years have been magical,” Arrigotti said. "As I developed this show, remembering all of our high points and heart-stopping moments, it started to feel like an episode of ‘This is Your Life’. Then, when the cast came to their first rehearsal, they were so excited to relive these productions that I realized that this is their lives, too.”
Proud and life-changing describe how Arrigotti feels about the hundreds of performers who have taken the stage in WNMTC numerous productions.
“Certainly, for me, knowing all of them has changed my life For Good,” she said. “Some started out in the youth company and grew to become music instructors and directors in our community, won national awards or became professional in the field.”
Arrigotti has been fortunate, too, to have a loyal production crew matching her dedication to the company. Choreographer and Assistant Director Gina Kaskie Davis, Orchestra Director and Manager Kevin Murphy and Vocal Director Judy Monson have been mainstays with WNMTC, providing continuity and experience to the musicals.
WNMTC will rekindle some memories of the theatre's performers and productions of "The Phantom of the Opera, "Les Misérables," "Mama Mia!," and more, but for only one weekend.
